Kristel Trow

Fine Art Photography

Kristel Trow is a Fine Art photographer based in Penarth, South Wales, UK. Trow studied a BA in Fine Art printmaking, where she was first introduced

to the idea of making rudimentary cameras, as well as having the ability to foster a creative approach to printing her images. Upon graduating she became

co-author of a BA multimedia in Southampton and a visiting lecturer.

Having since taken time away from the Art world to raise a family, she's returned with an autobiographical and social commentary project " The Russian Doll",

which contained a self portrait, as well as the documentation of multiple women's stories who were championing resilience.

Trow designed her very own camera for this, which consisted of a paper neg holder and a portable darkroom built into the belly of a giant Russian Doll and she

will be highlighting this design engineering feat at our event.

Adaptation and transformation are at the heart of Trow's work, as she reuses and reinvents mass produced objects and turns urban street scenes into glossy

portraiture, alluding to pop art and cinematic conventions.
